2008: The “Sikkim Online Gaming (Regulation) Act” was officially passed, covering online lotteries and gambling businesses.
2024: Another amendment allowed licensed operators to offer online ticket purchases but limited it to within Sikkim, requiring geo-location restrictions.
Despite having a population of under a million, Sikkim became the first in India to regulate online lotteries and gaming with the passage of a bill in 2008, setting the stage for others.
